True Singaporean Experiences To Celebrate This National Day August 2022

The familiar sight of red and white flags can be seen during this time of the year… Advertisements with “57” and “$” start to pop up. Singapore’s 57th birthday National Day is coming soon. In our 3rd year of the pandemic, the 2022 NDP theme is “Stronger Together, Majulah!” as the nation emerges from Covid-19.

This national day, expect an exciting line-up of events as the National Day Parade is coming to us in full swing. For the true Singaporean experience, celebrate National Day with these activities over the weekend.

1. Watch the fireworks

Fireworks... the number one activity every National Day. In the weeks leading up to National Day, crowds gather at Marina Barrage and Marina Bay Sands as everyone fights to get the closest view of the fireworks.

On 9th August this year, enjoy the fireworks from your neighbourhood in the heartlands. In addition to fireworks, there will be carnivals organised, just like pre-Covid times. The fan-favourite Red Lions will also be landing at Bishan and Ghim Moh, sure to excite the little ones.

2. Shop the National Day deals

With all the exciting deals offered by F&B and retail stores, experience the true Singaporean kiasu spirit and snag up all these deals.

Shopee is holding a sale with Citibank, HSBC, and Standard Chartered, with discounts up to $20 off sitewide.

5. Spend the National Day evening dining with a scenic view

Watching the fireworks from a rooftop restaurant sounds exciting. Who would pass up a scenic view of the fireworks and an opportunity to have a good meal? Here are the top restaurant picks for the best views.

Ce La Vi rooftop restaurant - Enjoy Singapore-style BBQ and bites alongside an aerial view of the parade, complete with live popcorn, face painting activities, and muah chee stations.

Kinki Restaurant and Bar - located right at the waterfront with the best view of the parade, Kinki offers the National Day Rooftop Package ($588 per table of up to six) from 5 pm to midnight.

Other than dining at restaurants, pack a picnic with your friends and family and reach early at Marina Barrage, Gardens By the Bay, or the less popular Bay East Garden to get good spots and a good view of the fireworks.

6. Go for a short getaway

After showing enough love to our nation, perhaps take a short getaway this National Day. This year’s National Day falls on a Tuesday, so you may apply for leave on 8th August and enjoy your 4-day long weekend. Take time off to travel to Johor Bahru, Bali, or Phuket for a timely break this time of the year.

Shop, dine, and do your hair and nails at JB this long weekend to get your well-deserved break! We love Singapore, and Singaporeans love to travel. That’s true Singapore spirit... Right?

These National Day special events are only here once a year - go and participate in these uniquely Singaporean experiences and show your support for Singapore!

Psst, do not forget to be decked out in red and white to show your love this 9th of August.
